Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) uses a single-point nano needle to add density to the scalp by creating the illusion of hair follicles.

FAQs

What is SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation)?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical cosmetic tattoo procedure that replicates the appearance of natural hair follicles using tiny, layered pigment impressions in the scalp. The result is the illusion of fuller hair density or a clean, shaved hair look.

SMP does not stimulate hair growth, but it visually reduces contrast between hair and scalp, making thinning areas appear fuller and more defined.

Am I a good candidate for SMP?

Everyone who suffers from a receding hairline and male pattern baldness is a good candidate for SMP. This procedure can be used to cover/blend hair transplant scars, alopecia, thinning hair, and male pattern baldness.

What technique is used for SMP?

We use Staccato machine from Korea, a specialized SMP device designed specifically for scalp work.

Why this matters:

• Delivers controlled, consistent impressions

• Allows for soft, natural dot saturation

• Minimizes trauma to the scalp

• Ideal for layering pigment gradually, which is key for natural results

• Creates dots that mimic real hair follicles—not blurred or blown-out ink

The Staccato machine works with a tap/pointillism technique, ensuring precise depth control and long-term pigment stability.

How long does Scalp Micropigmentation last?

Results last up to 3-4 years; most clients return annually or biannually for a touch-up. However, the result can vary depending on your skin/scalp type, daily lifestyle, and aftercare.

How long do I have to wait between my initial and touch-up sessions?

The initial session and the touch-up session are usually spaced 7 to 14 days apart to ensure enough time for your skin to heal. This may vary depending on our skin/scalp type. Gradual layering prevents oversaturation and ensures natural density.

Who Benefits From SMP?

SMP is ideal for:

•Men and women experiencing thinning hair

Receding hairlines

Crown thinning or bald spots

Alopecia (various types)

Hair transplant scars (FUE/FUT)

•Clients who want the look of a fresh buzz cut

•Clients who are not candidates for hair transplant surgery

✔ Safe for all skin tones

✔ Works on oily, dry, and sensitive scalps (with proper technique)

Can women get SMP?

Absolutely. SMP is excellent for women with diffuse thinning or widened parts.

Will the results look natural?

When performed by a skilled professional, SMP results look very natural. Hair follicles are replicated realistically for a natural look. Most clients notice a big difference in the third session because we use a unique layering technique. The most crucial factor in determining the service's realism is the hairline design you choose during your consultation.

Does SMP hurt?

Discomfort is minimal and often described as light scratching. Numbing options are available if needed.

Will it look fake?

No—when done correctly with proper spacing, layering, and pigment choice, SMP looks extremely natural.

Does the pigment change color?

Quality SMP pigment fades gradually over time. It should not turn blue or green when properly maintained.

Can I shave my head after SMP?

Yes. Most shaved-look clients maintain a 0–1 guard or razor shave.

Is SMP permanent?

It is considered semi-permanent and fades slowly over the years.

Can I use my regular shampoo?

It is recommended to use a mild shampoo after SMP. After the treated area has fully healed (minimum 14 days), you can use your regular shampoo every other day. For better pigment retention, avoid using oily haircare products on the scalp/treated area.
